The Apollo 500 is a 3.5" IDE controller for the A500 and A500+ which connects to the side expansion slot. The IDE controller supports the standard number of two drives, although there is only enough space internally for mounting one drive. The Unit has a drive LED and a power switch at the back. The unit also contains an internal expansion bus for adding other devices such as the Apollo 520 accelerator.
